Ross tops Sooner vs Legends showdown at Crawford County Speedway
John Rittenoure - VAN BUREN, Ark. (September 24, 2022) - The Complete Well Testing Sooner Late Model Series and the GRT Legends Late Model Series presented by SuperClean went head-to-head for the first time Saturday at Crawford County Speedway producing a 20-car field. But that did not deter Sooner Series points leader Hayden Ross from visiting the winners circle for the sixth time this season.
Sooner series regulars made up the first two rows of the feature and Eddie Martin jumped out to the early lead. But his luck ran out after 10 laps and Ross was there to take over the top spot. Ross led the remaining 15 laps to pick up the victory.
Ross Farmer and Dustin Holmes put the GRT Legends onto the podium with Farmer coming from 9th to second and Holmes grabbing third. Sooner rookie Brett Hansen held on to fourth and Legends racer Geoff Aitken rounded out the top five.
Legends competitors ended up taking six of the top 10 spots. Early leader Martin was credited with a 17th place finish.
The CWT Sooner Late Models return to Thunderbird Speedway for the final time this season next Friday then travel to Tri-State Speedway in Pocola just outside of Fort Smith on Saturday.

The Sooner Late Model Series was formed in 2016 by Enid Speedway co-promoter Mark Brill. Brill felt there was not many opportunities for late model competitors to race in Oklahoma and the Sooner Late Model Series was formed. Now the series has grown beyond the borders of Oklahoma with events held in the neighboring states of Kansas, Texas and Arkansas as well.
